oh my
Who's got two thumbs and a unofficial job offer that has them scrambling to look at apartments in a city hundreds of miles away (and a new car, because I don't think jeepzilla could survive the trip)? This chick!
I would absolutely love any suggestions/ information/ opinions you guys have to offer! Being on a budget and accommodating the two cats is going to be challenge enough, let alone knowing what's "reasonable" rent or what neighborhoods are preferable.
Any ideas on where you're going to work? Traffic here is a killer, so a shorter commuter is better. www.zillow.com is helpful if you are looking to buy. What's your budget?
The agency's based in Rockville, so I'm thinking somewhere in MD. I definitely can't afford to buy yet-- I used up my savings while I've been doing my masters, plus it's a two year gig (with a non-competitive appointment possible at the end). I'm hoping to spend no more than $1500/ month (including utilities). I'm not afraid of a reasonable commute, and I'm cool with busing it or whatever, but I have to have my two cats. Good times!

Outside DC :)
YAY!!! I'm so happy for you! But at the same time I don't want you to go! :(
Hubby lived in Rockville, MD for four years. It's one of the first Metro stops in MD.
I am so happy for you! I know a lot of cool people in DC.

Thanks!
H, it's not that far! And I want to get a place with two bedrooms or a nook I can set up as a guest bedroom so I can have visitors. :)
If you wnat any advise on DC housing let me know. I did a lot of research when I was looking for my place.
I have friends in that area (and family too, actually) if you need local opinions or resources.
